Adaptability meets Flexibility

"This is a mission, so the first thing you need to pack is your adaptability and flexibility." These words spoken today by our mission manager, Leona Dockery, were the buzzwords of the day as we adjusted to overcome some early challenges.

As we started out of VeraCruz this morning the team was in high spirits and ready to head to Poza Rica to set up the clinic. However, we were missing our Austrialian team members who had not yet arrived. It felt strange to leave the city without them, but we soon received news that they had landed safely, arrived at the hotel, and would soon meet us for dinner.

So with that good news in hand we headed off for a 3 Hr drive to Poza Rica. But our plans soon changed and we headed to Tuxpan instead which turned our 3 hours into 6 hours on the bus. As we pulled into Tuxpan, the team was tired but excited to get the clinic set up for an awesome clinic day in the morning.

Everyone got their 2nd wind and pulled together to quickly set up clinic, meet with the local Lions and translators. By the time we finished, the clinic looked great and we were pumped up and ready to go. After a quick huddle and cheer, we headed back to the hotel to meet our very weary Austrialian teammates.

Key learnings for today: Bring Sharpies, Box Cutters and don't forget to pack your Adaptability and Flexibility!

Now we are all off for a good night's sleep. Tune in tommorrow for our first clinic report.
